 A drawing board (also drawing table, drafting table or architect’s table) is, in its antique form, a kind of multipurpose desk which can be used for any kind of drawing, writing or impromptu sketching on a large sheet of paper or for reading a large format book or other oversized document or for drafting precise technical illustrations.  Drawing Table
The drawing table used to be a frequent companion to a pedestal desk in a gentleman’s study or private library, during the pre-industrial and early industrial era.During the Industrial Revolution draftsmanship gradually became a specialized trade and drawing tables slowly moved out of the libraries and offices of most gentlemen. They became more utilitarian and were built of steel and plastic instead of fine woods and brass.More recently, engineers and draftsmen use the drawing board for making and modifying drawings on paper with ink or pencil. Different drawing instruments (set square, protractor, etc.) are used on it to draw parallel, perpendicular or oblique lines. There are instruments for drawing circles, arcs, other curves and symbols too (compass, French curve, stencil, etc.). However, with the gradual introduction of computer aided drafting and design (CADD or CAD) in the last decades of the 20th century and the first of the 21st century, the drawing board is becoming less common.

A drawing table is also sometimes called a mechanical desk because, for several centuries, most mechanical desks were drawing tables. Unlike the gadgety mechanical desks of the second part of the 18th century, however, the mechanical parts of drawing tables were usually limited to notches, ratchets, and perhaps a few simple gears, or levers or cogs to elevate and incline the working surface.Very often a drawing table could look like a writing table or even a pedestal desk when the working surface was set at the horizontal and the height adjusted to 29 inches, in order to use it as a “normal” desk. The only giveaway was usually a lip on one of the sides of the desktop. This lip or edge stopped paper or books from sliding when the surface was given an angle. It was also sometimes used to hold writing implements. When the working surface was extended at its full height, a drawing table could be used as a standing desk.

The early uses of an antique chest or coffer included storage of fine cloth, weapons, foods and valuable items. A simple chest, called a wakis (wagon-kist) was commonly used in the Cape Colony as a seat on a wagon. To make it more usable, it often had a wooden support along the centre of the top so that the seated driver would not slide off so easily. In addition to this use, they were also used for storage at home; keeping clothes, food and other commodities safe. They were frequently made with one or more sides sloping downwards, although the top was always horizontal. Many are made of very good woods, like yellowwood and survived well.

Advantages of marble flooring
Color: Marble tiles and slabs are available in a wide variety of colors. There are also multicolored marble materials that are available, which feature a variety of hues arranged in the surface of each piece. Since Marble is a natural flooring material, each piece is going to look slightly different from the other, which means that every tile will have its own unique personality.
Polish: Unlike many other stone flooring materials, marble is able to take an extremely high polish. This allows manufacturers to get the surface of marble extremely smooth and shiny. Polishing also tends to bring out the colors in the stone making them more noticeable and dramatic.
Natural: Marble is an all natural material that is created by the earth. That means that it is eco friendly and bio degradable, and will not cause pollution at the end of its functional life.
Light: One of the reasons that marble has so often been used in great works of sculpture is that it has a slightly translucent quality. This allows illumination in a room to penetrate the surface of some lighter colored marble materials. In the right light this material can seem to take on a very slight glowing quality. Even in darker marbles the play of light across the surface of the stone can be quite lovely.

Disadvantages of marble flooring
Slippery: When polished, marble flooring has a very low coefficient of friction, meaning that it may present a slipping hazard. This is especially true in a kitchen where water and other liquids may occasionally spill on the ground. This can be offset to some extent through the use of floor mats.
Maintenance: In order to prevent the stains mentioned above from occurring, a marble kitchen floor will have to be properly sealed with a manufacturer recommended surface barrier sealing chemical. This will create an invisible layer over the marble, protecting it from staining agents and acidic materials. You will have to reapply this sealant to the marble floor periodically, every six to twelve months in order to maintain the appearance of the tiles.
Scratches: A polished marble tile is relatively easy to scratch; meaning that over time your kitchen floor may be marred by the moving of furniture and the clicking of heals. Repairing a scratched marble tile is a difficult job and usually requires the assistance of a professional.
Stains: Marble is a base material, in an acid base relationship. That means that whenever anything which is acidic interacts with it, a chemical reaction will occur, in the form of a rather noticeable stain. In the kitchen you will often have acidic liquids such as sauces and fruit juices splashing and spilling onto the floor, putting the marble in danger of permanently staining.
Replacement: Marble is expensive to install and relatively difficult to remove. While proper maintenance should ensure that your marble kitchen floor lasts for years, when it does come time to replace it you may find that installing a new floor directly over the marble is easier than trying to remove and replace it.

How to Clean Marble Flooring
Most of cleaning materials are highly acidic and harmful to marble.They are useful to clean tiles but not to marble. You can start the cleaning process by giving your flooring a quick sweep. However, sweep gently to avoid scratches and abrasions to the floor, and do not use a broom that has been used outdoors. Keep a special broom and mop on hand just for cleaning your marble flooring.For regular day-to-day cleaning, you should use nothing more than a sponge mop and warm water. For additional dirt and dust, warm water with a touch of mild soap should do the trick. For particularly dirty flooring, you can use a small amount of special pH detergent diluted in warm water. However, this detergent should not be used often – never more than a few times per year.When drying your marble flooring, you should never allow it to air dry as you would with other types of flooring. Water or soap spots can cause unsightly marks and dull spaces. Instead, use a soft towel or dry rag.

Remember while flooring with marble
Marble is a natural stone and all natural stone materials have porous surfaces. This makes marble susceptible to damage from a variety of stains and spills. In order to offset this, a new installation of marble should be treated with both a below surface sealer, and a surface finishing treatment. This will serve to clog the pores in the material, while also creating an invisible layer over it
Acid Stains: Marble is an alkalai, which means that it is a base in an acid base relationship. This is important in flooring because if any acidic substance falls on an untreated marble floor it will cause a chemical reaction. The result of this reaction will be a permanent discoloration of the marble.Common acidic substances include fruit products and juices, sodas, vinegar based mixes, as well as a variety of soaps and cleaning agents. Spills should be wiped up immediately with a damp cloth. Regular sealing of the tiles will help to protect them to some extent. A nightstand, alternatively night table or bedside table, is a small table or cabinet designed to stand beside a bed or elsewhere in a bedroom. It serves the role of a coffee table during nighttime hours, at a person’s bedside.Before indoor flushing toilets became commonplace, 
the main function of a nightstand was to contain a chamber pot. As a result, early nightstands were often small cabinets, sometimes fitted with a drawer, and usually containing an enclosed storage space below covered by one or more doors. Relief work

Relief, or relievo rilievo, is a sculptural technique.  To create a sculpture in relief is to give the impression that the sculpted material has been raised above the background plane. What is actually performed when a relief is cut in from a flat surface of stone (relief sculpture) or wood (relief carving) is a lowering of the field, leaving the unsculpted parts seemingly raised. The technique involves considerable chiselling away of the background, which is a time-consuming exercise. On the other hand, a relief saves forming the rear of a subject, and is less fragile and more securely fixed than a sculpture in the round, especially one of a standing figure where the ankles are a potential weak point, especially in stone. In other materials such as metal, clay, plaster stucco, ceramics or papier-mache the form can be just added to or raised up from the background, and monumental bronze reliefs are made by casting.
